This album was composed for Innopixel/PieLab’s Landsoldaten Virtual Reality historical site exploration app. Landsoldaten turns exploring the impressive fortifications of the Danish city of Fredericia into a series of quest objectives. Players search for artifacts and points of interest that appear on their screen, which when triggered contribute to one of three historical narratives surrounding sieges of the city. The app takes stylistic inspiration from Niantic’s Pokemon: Go! and helps to realize visitors imagination of what the mighty fortifications would have looked like in their prime. The music, with its focus on horns and brassy military sounds, helps to immerse listeners in a world 150 years removed from our own.
